Recently, the geographers have been learning about rocks in physical geog class.
When the overlying structure of the rock, especially granite, has been disrupted due to hydrolysis(the feldspar in the rock has been converted to kaolin/clay by rainwater and washed away, leaving behind many pits and holes in the rock) frost shattering occurs when icecrystals form in the little holes of the rock, expanding and contracting, putting pressure on the rock until granular disintegration takes place...the rock is naught but a handful of grains.
Rock = original Ao2 class spirit
Feldspar= People missing. Eg. Brynner, Sheng, Nat, Cassandra, Ruth, Me and Liyana. Charmaine and Erni
Ice Crystals = Other factors such as school work, cca, clique forming...etc
Our class spirit was there because of the beautiful chemistry we had with each other, the combination of people was perfect and during the 1st three months we had almost no worries because everything was so relaxed and leisurely.
Then the education system split us up. The combination of people is not there anymore, important elements in the rock which holds it together are gone. Suddenly, academic life caught up with us and we find ourselves up to the neck with piles of homework, cca snatching away the little free time we have, clique/s forming in ao2 because of certain people...and indifferance becuase no one cares anymore about building class spirit. A cynic like me would say, what for build class spirit since we are only going to be together for 1 and a half years.
Face it, the class spirit can never be retrieved. But what we still have is love.
Like Ruth said, love. We still love each other very much even though we don't see each other. We care for each other, we show concern for one another, such as when someone faces a crisis, he or she is never alone. We show support for each other by cheering each other on...eg during syf, brynner and sheng running for council in sajc...
No my dear Adrian, love dosen't fade. Class spirit may disappear but love will always be there.
Btw, I am a cynical romantic.
